How should different flooring types be disposed of responsibly?

The preferred order is reuse, redistribution, manufacturer take-back, specialist recycling and, only where necessary, responsible disposal.

Undamaged boards, tiles and unopened packs can often be kept as maintenance stock or reused elsewhere. Product codes, batch details and quantities should be recorded so they can be matched later.

Take-back and recycling schemes vary, so confirm:

  • What materials they accept.
