White Stone Impervia® Marble Tile for Caffé Di Milano

Impervia tiles used in a very Italian restaurant in the heart of Birmingham.

Client: Arcadian Leisure Ltd

Arcadian Leisure approached us when they were exploring options for the development of the Caffe Di Milano restaurant. Some of the challenges involved providing a floor covering that would stand up to heavy footfall as its open from morning till late and on weekends becomes a bar scene. The floor would also need to highly resistant to spillages, stains and wear on top of that any cleaning would need to be easy without complex processes.

From a design aspect, a calling to the famous Italian Marble flooring was desired. Of course, Marble is extremely expensive and not the best material to be used in this environment because in the immortal words of Bon Jovi – it’s slippery when wet. We therefore presented our White Marble effect Impervia tile. This recreates the beauty of Italian Marble as a true fraction of the cost and is extremely slip resistant scoring over 45 PTV (Pendulum Test Value) in the wet.

Impervia also checks the boxes on stain resistance as its fully waterproof and can be cleaned with any normal household floor detergent.

The flooring was fitted in 2021 and has since endured constant use; Impervia has performed beautifully, fulfilling all the requirements set by the client and is sure to carry on doing so for many years to come.

Impervia boasts a host of features that make it an ideal option for restaurants. We’ve mentioned the low slip risk, waterproofing and low maintenance. In addition, it’s a ‘single-component-install’ this means that the installation costs are very low or frankly simply at DIY level. The underlay is built-in which provides a 21dB impact sound reduction; so, there’s no requirement for adhesives or additional underlay. As the finish is applied at the factory as soon as the floor is laid it can be put into full use. This means there’s very little ‘down-time’ wherein your premises need to be closed for the fitout. It can also be laid on top of existing floors, the only requirement is that the surface you’re fitting to be sound, stable and level.

Impervia is suitable for use with under floor heating, it’s also fine to be laid in areas of direct sunlight as it is UV stable and able to withstand enormous changes in temperature.

Impervia presents a cost-effective commercial grade flooring product that is suitable for a variety of applications. To find out more please get in touch on 01666 504 015 or contact@impervia.co.uk
